It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie debuted, establishing Pixar as a major animation studio and bringing viewers to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
An element the trailer doesn't touch on is why the sheriff is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.
Surely, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Seeing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The last thing Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the toys.
